The Intern Program

The intern program was initiated in the summer of 1995 as a direct request from faculty in the theatre and art divisions of the music school. This led to a Board decision to create opportunities for high school and college students. The internship enables students to be mentored by faculty in various disciplines of the performing arts. The Board and faculty established the selection criterion to include previous enrollment in the program, community service hours and evaluation of intern performance at the end of the program. The interns serve in every aspect of the music school from administrative training to classroom duties inclusive of mentoring the younger student. This increases the success of the program by exemplifying model musicianship for the younger students and a mentoring program for the interns by the experienced faculty.

If you are interested in becoming an intern, please contact Ann Mead - mead@penn.com
